I’m a designer/art director with 9+ years of industry experience in both ATL and BTL agencies from Cape Town, South Africa.
I originally come from a primarily print design background (I graduated from Red & Yellow in 2010). I worked for short period in a small design agency in 2011 and then decided to take the rest of the year off to travel (spending most of the year in Australia on a working holiday). I then re-joined the advertising agency world in 2012 and worked with two different agencies between 2012 – 2017.
In 2018 I decided to take a break from my 9-5 routine and enrolled in a full-time Web Development and Interactive Media course at Friends of Design (now Academy of Digital Arts) in Cape Town. During this one year course I learnt all things digital and up-skilled in areas that I previously was not as clued up on – including video editing, motion graphics, basic UX & UI, web development (html5 and CSS) and Wordpress. It was an amazing and challenging year that saw me graduate as the top digital student for 2018.
Over the last 3 years I have been working as a full-time freelancer and in 2019 I art directed and implemented 3 global campaigns for ASICS which were shot in Madrid, Nice and Tokyo.
Despite all the COVID curveballs thrown my way during 2020 to present, I was still fortunate enough to art direct and complete an additional 2 international tennis campaigns for the brand remotely. Both these campaigns have been a huge learning experience for me in perseverance, patience and problem-solving.
Over the course of my career I have worked primarily on food, fashion and retail brands, including ASICS, Le Creuset, Denny, Old Khaki, Kurt Geiger, Distell (Nederburg/J.C. Le Roux,) Blok and Twisp, to name a few.
I am a positive, hardworking person who is always ready for a challenge. I love creating and am always willing to learn something new. I have a vast range of skills and experience across multiple channels.
